ROCK THEATRE PLAYS GENESIS – SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND
It’s been 50 years since one of progressive rock’s most style-defining albums, Selling England by the Pound, came out. Considered by many to represent the pinnacle of rock band Genesis’ progressive career, the album features epic solos and strong musical compositions. The album’s theme deals with, among other things, a lack of English folk culture and an increased American influence.
PROG ROCK MEETS MODERN POETRY MEETS VISUAL ARTS
In a unique collaboration with artists Rosanna Fellman, Anna-Sofia Nylund and researcher Kaj Ahlsved, Rock Theater has created an audiovisual concept, which deals with themes from Selling England by the Pound, now published in the present tense. Has man learned from his past mistakes with energy crises, class society, excessive consumption and the search for happiness and identity? Vasabandet Rock Theater is one of Northern Europe’s leading interpreters of Genesis. The music is performed with a big heart and with respect for the sound world of the original.
