The artist grew up in Sweden, but he notices in himself a tug of war between his Finnish and Swedish identities. The artist, who built his career in Sweden, released his first Finnish-language solo album “Nokia & Ericsson” in 2023. The album got started in Los Angeles, where Krunegård was at his friends house writing completely different songs.
– I was writing new songs in Swedish with my friends Linus Wiklunds and Noonie Baos in Los Angeles. Suddenly, however, my brain started working in Finnish, and I found myself composing the song “Nokia & Ericsson” on the edge of the swimming pool on a strangely cool morning while the others were still sleeping. Noonie and Linus were making songs for Sam Smith and asked me to join, I refused because I had to finish this new song in Finnish, says Krunegård about the initial impetus for the Finnish album.
