Few artists can live up to descriptions such as “folk favourite” and “Sweden’s blues queen”. Louise Hoffsten deserves and lives up to both of them. With her respectable and inspiring thirty-year solo career, which in addition to the blues also embraced genres such as rock, show, folk music and jazz, she has gradually played her way into the audience’s heart.
On February 11, her new album “Crossing the Border” was released. About the meaning of the album title, Louise says “It has been an eventful time in the whole world. Impossible not to have been affected by it. Who can close their eyes when there is a crisis in the world? A pandemic that puts everything on hold. Elections in the USA where a clown becomes president . Evil forces everywhere in the world. That’s when you need music to draw strength from. That’s when you long for Memphis. When you can’t be out playing or traveling, you can comfort yourself with the harmonica in a corner somewhere. It never comes be normal again. It’s just as well to accept what is now. If you dare crossing the border!”
Now she performs at Ritz in Vaasa together with Rickard Krantz on guitar!
