Ritz’s annual Horrorfest is organized this year on November 15th, featuring horror classics rarely seen on the big screen! A common thread for this year’s films is that both were banned by film censorship in Finland and only got their actual theatrical premiere after the law was abolished in 2001. The films are The Evil Dead (1981) and Battle Royale (2000)!

17.30 – Doors Open
18.00 – The Evil Dead
20.15 – Battle Royale

Between screenings there will be snack size pizzas for sale, and of course drinks in the bar.
Tickets: Both movies 15€, single movie 10€. Tickets are sold at the door only. The films will be screened with English subtitles.

The Evil Dead (1981)

Five friends travel to a cabin in the woods, where they unknowingly release flesh-possessing demons. Raimi’s seminal horror made a cult icon of Bruce Campbell and turned its director into hot property. Much imitated, but never bettered, The Evil Dead was the birth of an independently-spirited, viscerally- minded new wave in low budget horror cinema.
Director: Sam Raimi
Film rated 16+ (Screening 18+ due to alcohol sales)

Battle Royale (2000)
At dawn of the new millennium, the country is in a state of collapse.
Unemployment stands at 15% with millions out of work. School violence is out of control and rebellious teenagers stage mass boycotts. The beleaguered government retaliates with Battle Royale…. Each year a randomly chosen class is pitted against itself on an abandoned island in a cruel game of survival.
Director: Kinji Fukasaku
Film rated 18+

Horrorfest is brought to you by Film i Öster botten and Skafferiet (Ritz).

GENERAL INFORMATION

Vaasa local buses, Lifti, drive several lines past Ritz. You can find your way to us with their  route planner

Ritz is only 700 meters walking from Vaasa travel centre (trains and long distance buses).

Roadside parking is free after 18:00. The easiest way to find parking is in the main square underground parking Toriparkki, 400 meters walking distance from Ritz.

During Kino nights Ritz doors open circa 20 minutes before the first movie.

Tickets are sold in the café where payment by card or cash is accepted. There is no pre-sale or take bookings for film screenings. The tickets are value tickets, and are valid as such to any screening.

Smartum, Tyky or Edenred coupons or cards are not accepted at Ritz, but they can be used to buy tickets at Studio Ticket in shopping centre Rewell.

No wardrobe service or fee during regular Kino nights.

We work continuously to make Ritz more accessible. There is a stair lift from the ground floor, where the toilet is available, to the café and auditorium on the second floor, and there is a induction loop for hearing aids in part of the auditorium. Even so it is a good idea to read up on accessibility before your visit.

Read more about accessibility, and get acquainted with the premises via the virtual tour:
