Carla is an idealistic class teacher who thinks the best of the children, whose student is accused of theft. The accusations reek of prejudice, so Carla decides to find out for herself. This leads to a spiral of events that turns the students, parents and other teachers against Carla. THE TEACHER’S ROOM is about good intentions and civic courage: the small world in the school mirrors the whole society. The film was awarded at the Berlin Film Festival last winter as the best European film. It is Germany’s official Oscar nominee for 2024.
