Albin Lee Meldau, who started his music career in the band Magnolia, released his first solo single Lou Lou and self-published EP Lovers in 2016. A year later, another short album Bloodshot appeared, which already took him to European and American stages. 2017 NPR Music picked up Meldau’s South-by-Southwest (SXSW) event on the Tiny Desk Concert series’ “must-see artists” shortlist and described the troubadour’s sound as “breathtaking, soulful, thunderous and impossible to ignore”.
Meldau’s debut album About You was released in the spring of 2018 and was followed by access to the TV-show Så mycket bättre. On television, Albin captured the hearts of Swedes once and for all with his life-flavored lyrics, his unadorned sincerity, and his captivating voice and with their inventive arrangements of other people’s songs. There is also self-irony from the artist, as he has described himself as “a country singer in disguise”. The singer-songwriter, who performs in both Swedish and English, is one of the best storytellers of his generation. Timelessly rootsy blues and soul based from a hypnotic and versatile artist the music appeals to audiences of all ages, as evidenced by several sold-out tours in Sweden and the crowning achievement of his career so far, a sold-out concert accompanied by a symphony orchestra at Stockholm’s Avicii Arena in March 2023. Albin Lee Meldau arrives in Finland at the height of his career.
“Few Singers can command an audience’s attention quite like Albin Lee Meldau. His voice is breathtaking, thunderous and impossible to ignore.” – USA’s National Public Radio about Albin Lee Meldau after his performance in NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert.
