A musical story about the beginning, the end – and everything in between
A first line can open up a whole world – a breath, a poem, a vignette for a TV program. But what happens when the last line approaches, when silence falls and the credits await?
In “Första och sista raden”, Rickard Eklund takes the audience on a musical journey where the lyrics are at the center. It is the stories between the lines that carry the performance – where the raw meets the vulnerable, the lyrical meets the laconic. Not everything that is said is true, but the truth is hidden somewhere among the tangles of magnetic tapes and Ginsu knives at the TV shop.

Rickard Eklund is an established Finnish-Swedish songwriter and poet with songs such as Finland, Sömntåg and Slute. He is currently working on both a new album and a collection of poems Att kyssas utan tänder. On the tour, he plays with a band consisting of piano, trumpet, flute, guitar, double bass and drums – and in each venue a “somewhat local” guest is invited on stage. The guests are an important part of the whole: they put their mark on the songs, create unique moments and ensure that no two performances are the same.
The tour has previously visited Närpes, Nykarleby and Jakobstad – and continues after Vaasa to Helsinki, Pargas and Sweden. It is the worn-out cinema halls and historic cultural halls that give the performance its special charm. Here, every sentence, every seat in the hall and every note becomes part of the story.
