Two Greenlandic women—one an inmate, the other a filmmaker—are bound by a shared traumatic past and a chaotic present. Ruth has spent half her life behind bars, the last twelve years in legal limbo. When filmmaker Nina visits the prison, it marks the start of a deep friendship and a poignant journey for justice and a second chance at life.
Shot over eight years, Walls – Akinni Inuk is a documentary project that reckons with personal trauma and legal injustice in the shadow of Greenland’s colonial history. By exploring two lives that could easily have been reversed, the film examines the fragile and unpredictable nature of freedom across generations—for both individuals and societies.
