Lapua 1976 is a story of love, courage and hope. The film is a love story based on true events about people who find themselves in the middle of the Lapua Cartridge Factory explosion. The main actors of the film are Jussi award winner Linnea Leino (Girls Girls Girls, Punttikomedia), Konsta Laakso (Oma maa), Hannu-Pekka Björkman (Ikitie) and Leo Sjöman (Unknown Soldier).

Lapua, year 1976. Matti Holma (Konsta Laakso) works at a cartridge factory – like most of the locals. When the factory manager’s daughter Kaisa Mäkelä (Linnea Leino) returns to her home region and starts work at the charging station, painful memories of the past return to Mati’s mind. Mati and Kaisa share a past, a relationship that Kaisa’s father (HP Björkman) never accepted.
Encounters at work bring Matt and Kaisa closer together again. The old love hasn’t died out. But Kaisa is already about to get engaged – and she has a big secret. Matti doesn’t want to give up his hope for Kaisa, but on the morning of April 13, something happens at the loading station that shakes the whole of Finland. A fateful explosion turns a love story into a tale of courage, loss and hope.

We work continuously to make Ritz more accessible. There is a stair lift from the ground floor, where the toilet is available, to the café and auditorium on the second floor, and there is a induction loop for hearing aids in part of the auditorium. Even so it is a good idea to read up on accessibility before your visit.
