Franz Kafka grew up in a Jewish middle-class family in Prague at the end of the 19th century. Sensitive and headstrong, he sought his place in a world whose expectations he rarely managed to live up to. As a young man, he was torn between his authoritarian father, the monotonous daily routine at an insurance company, and a burning desire to write. From this inner struggle emerges a voice that would become one of the most influential in literature.
Multiple Oscar-nominated Agnieszka Holland has taken on the challenge of telling the story of Franz Kafka’s life, work and vision. The result is a kaleidoscopic portrait that depicts the legendary author’s story in a way you have never seen before. Supported by the Creative Europe programme – MEDIA.
